Terrestrial - "Loading"
Screen shot of the group of figures. To make the scene become busier, I decide to add color bars. These color bars also represent the glitch effect of a television. The appearance of color bars and the mussy sound also express an idea of destruction.
Find out this shot while editing and thinking about using a sound to highlight it. (Choosing the sound of pressing elevator button in the end)
Description
The first word come to my mind while thinking about terrestrial was landscape and then it expand to infinity and reality, death and lives, stability and changes, individuals and groups. I decided to focus on three levels of scenes. The first scene with only trees and buildings represents landscape. The second scene of two geese represents death and lives. The third scene with single figure represents individuals and multiple figures in various positions represent infinity and groups. The word loading to me means uncompleted and unfinished. The changes of colors can be continued. The increase number of figures can be continued. The whole scene was unfinished. The three geese flew away that seems like an ending however another goose appears to show there is never come to an end. I use the glitch effect of a no-signal television as a cut up of each scene. The decision of using a television effect addresses to the idea of the virtuality and reality.
I recorded the sound of shaking ingredients, kneading plastic bag and tin foil paper and rubbing aluminum bakery pan with inspirations of Foley art. These sound pieces were produced to present the sound of no signal TV, the sound of geese chewing and also the increasing of figures. I made the sound become noisier and busier with the appearance of more figures. The sound of pressing an elevator’s button becomes a highlight of the excretion of the goose. The color blocks also express the idea of creating the world unreal. The sound plays a role of leading the viewers to the world and it works together with the color bars to connect each scenes. I try to use those reproduce sound to examine how unrelated sound tracks perform in the video.
